Neck Lift

Liposuction alone in the jawline and neck area is effective only when there is no excess skin. A neck lift tightens both the muscles and skin, resulting in a more defined profile and a smoother neck.

Frequently Asked Questions about Neck Lift Surgery

What can a neck lift correct?

A neck lift can address several problem areas in the face and neck. The procedure can lift sagging cheek skin that has descended to the jawline, correct loose and drooping skin under the chin and on the neck, and reduce lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Additionally, a neck lift helps tighten sagging skin and deep wrinkles in the cheek area and remove excess fat.

Most patients who undergo a neck lift are very satisfied with the results. However, the healing process takes time, and the final results are visible several months, or up to six months, after the surgery.

How is a neck lift performed?

A neck lift can be performed using various techniques. The surgeon selects the technique based on aesthetic goals and individual conditions. The incision is typically hidden in natural wrinkles and folds. It usually begins behind the hairline at the temples, runs in front of the ear, around the earlobe, and back toward the hairline at the nape of the neck.

The procedure is generally performed under general anesthesia with an anesthesiologist present and takes 2–4 hours.

How should I prepare for a neck lift?

Preparation begins with a consultation with a plastic surgeon. During the consultation, aesthetic goals and expectations for the surgery are discussed. The plastic surgeon will also assess your general health.

During the consultation, previous and current illnesses, medications, supplements, herbal remedies, past surgeries and treatments, as well as alcohol and tobacco use, are reviewed.

How long does recovery take?

Immediately after the surgery, a bandage is placed around the neck or face to reduce swelling and tissue bleeding. Small drains may be inserted under the skin to prevent fluid and blood accumulation. Post-operative pain may occur and is managed with painkillers.

Healing time varies between individuals. Bruising and swelling in the facial area are common the day after surgery and can be reduced by keeping the head elevated. Numbness in the facial area may persist for several months.

How do I book a neck lift?

The decision to proceed with the surgery is always made after a consultation. During the consultation, the need for treatment, health condition, risks, and any additional investigations required are assessed. A potential date for the procedure is also determined during the consultation. Finally, an individualized care plan is created, where all procedures are planned in collaboration with the patient.
